The Mountain Tops And Valleys Of 2009
IF YOU HEAR GOD IN THIS MESSAGE, GO FORTH AND SHINE
The end of this year marks a culmination of mixed feelings for many. For some, the peak of bliss as they savor the rewards of an exceptionally fruitful year, for others the relentless fight to live and not die irrespective of the odds, while some find themselves in the gutters of despair.
Much has transpired from the global economic recession and its corresponding effects on industries and people. We look back at a year that probably marks the greatest economic downturn in our generation around the world. You can’t help but observe the loss of property, the frustration brought about by loss of income, turbulences which resulted in broken homes. A lot of natural and spiritual desolation has been prominent in nations across the globe.
Some started out with perfect health and did not anticipate that they will be closing this year on such a sick note, while others have witnessed the burial of their loved ones. However you look at this year you find pain juxtaposed with joy and yet the weight seems sunk on the grief side of life. The picture seems somber and the future looks bleak for many.
The picture of the year 2009 can easily be likened unto a woman in labor. It is of 2009 that many would say labor pains have been experienced, the water broke and yet the birth seems delayed. With the delayed birth comes the excruciating and inevitable pain which precedes the actual birth. Painful as it may be, birth is a critical necessity. Every woman, midwife and nurse will tell you that this is no time to give up, you have to P.U.S.H (Push Until Something Happens), birth is mandatory! Giving up at this time means terminating the hope of new life and aborting the very essence of the dream that is so near to fruition.
You have seen a lot of troubled times, cried uncountable tears, spent sleepless nights pondering over possible solutions and trying to preempt outcomes. Nothing seem to have turned out the way you had desired it to. You have lost count of your disappointments and the innumerable hopes which were crushed right in front of your eyes. The degree of your loss has been unfathomable and yet you are alive today.
You have come through all that you did and still breathing. Measuring the overwhelming circumstances you have had to put up with and you are still talking. You are the very manifestation of a miracle happening right inside your body. You had thought so often that you would not make it, that you would die and give up the ghost. You had come to a point where you commanded your children into God’s care in case you could not be with them any further. The sting of the pain in your soul had been prominent on your face. You have had to strengthen many as you put on a façade, pretending that you were well for the sake of others survival. Only if they knew that you were hurting too. Nobody saw you wetting your pillow in the wee hours of the morning. Your prayers has been soaked with tears and charged with incomprehensible sighs as you sought relieve from God. The more you prayed the worse it seemed your situation had become.
The writing on the walls of your heart have become like graffiti as you imprinted the sniveling of your soul. Weary like a wounded lion, your roars became impossible to hear. If we were to incline our ears to the chords of your heart the melodies we would hear would be inharmonious as you struggle with the nature of the song you wanted to give your Lord. Would it be a song of praise, a song of grievance or a sighs of travail? Yet here you are breathing! You have surprised yourself at the marvel of your ordeal.
You may not know how this is going to pan out but yet you are optimistic. You may not have the full picture of the eventuality yet you praise Him who made you. Somehow deep on the inside you realize that your very existence is by the grace of God. It is your own voice that says I would have been dead had the Lord not brought me through.
Don’t succumb, your labor pains are not over yet, but the joy of the Lord will continually be your strength. God’s potential in you will carry you. His ability will keep you. Go on and birth that dream, don’t let go, you have come too far. Go on and blow that trumpet, stand on the hill and declare the goodness of the Lord. He has brought you from a mighty long way. Go ahead and shout your heart out. You have come too far to give up now.
Your world has trembled and tremors have shaken the very foundations of the things that resisted your birth. The darkness that has fell upon your life amidst day light is about to be removed. There is a veil that has been torn and its tearing is echoing from across centuries as the Lion of the tribe of Judah rips it open to give you access to your glory. People are positioned to applaud and marvel at what God has been doing in you all along. Don’t give in don’t give up, your day has come. Your suffocation is relieved, the tomb has opened up, come forth and be all that God says you are. You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a peculiar people, a holy nation called into God’s marvelous light to proclaim Him to the world. Gush forth like water and flood your world with the distinction that God has prepared in you. Your darkness has turned into light, your sorrow into dancing. You will soar upon His righteousness, the Son of His glory has shone upon you. Now arise and shine for your light has come, the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
I love you, but Jesus loves you best.
Merry Christmas
