Peter Kay (born 2 July 1973) is an English comedian, writer, producer, director and actor. Peter Kay was born in Bolton, Lancashire, and attended Mount St Joseph High School, leaving with one GCSE in Art. Peter Kay took several menial jobs, including working in a toilet roll factory, Netto supermarket, a Cash and Carry, and a Bingo Hall, which later inspired episodes or sequences in That Peter Kay Thing. Peter Kay was last on the bill and won the competition, beating fellow stand-up comedian Johnny Vegas. Peter Kay earliest appearance was an interview with Granada Television in which he listed the contents of his room, as well as detailing his experience meeting Jimmy Savile. This would later be used in That Peter Kay Thing in the role of Leonard de Tomkinson. Peter Kay's experience working at the Manchester Evening News Arena inspired him to wear the official yellow jacket of the MEN Arena for the final performance of his Mum Wants a Bungalow tour Peter Kay has said that he sought a career in comedy.

In 2003, Peter Kay was listed in The Observer as one of the 50 Funniest British Comedians and also edited one page of Nuts magazine. In addition, Peter kay made an appearance in a 2005 poll of comedians and critics to find The Comedians' Comedian, a search for the 50 greatest funnymen of all time. In March 2005 Peter Kay also came top in a survey sponsored by the Jongleurs comedy club chain to find Britain's favourite comedian. In 2006, a Channel 4 television show 100 Greatest Funny Moments voted him at the Number 1 spot, most notably for his stand-up act, Mum Wants a Bungalow tour at the Bolton Albert Halls, including his description of a family wedding and Bullseye.

Peter Kay work includes That Peter Kay Thing (2000), Phoenix Nights (2001), Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere (2004), Britain's Got the Pop Factor... (2008) and other independent productions. Peter Kay has released two autobiographies called The Sound of Laughter and Saturday Night Peter. Peter Kay has appeared on numerous chat shows, including Parkinson and The Paul O'Grady Show.

Peter Kay's first TV project was in an episode of New Voices, a comedy series which showcased up and coming talent. After appearing on BBC2's The Sunday Show presenting his own slot entitled "Peter Kay's World of Entertainment", Peter Kay made an episode of Channel 4's The Comedy Lab, "The Services", in 1998. After a favourable reception to the pilot, That Peter Kay Thing was devised. It was based solely on the experiences of Peter Kay 's earlier life working in several menial jobs.

Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights was his notable TV programme, written by him, Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice and set in a newly refurbished social club run by wheelchair-bound Brian Potter. The club was based on an episode of That Peter Kay Thing entitled "In The Club". The cast of Phoenix Nights was made up almost entirely of stand-up comics whom the writers had met on 'the circuit'. The show was an immediate hit. Max & Paddy's Road to Nowhere was a spin-off of Phoenix Nights. Featuring the bouncer characters from the show played by Peter Kay and Patrick McGuinness and even featured at times characters from Phoenix Nights. On 17 April 2006, Channel 4 broadcast a "Peter Kay Night", showing out-takes from Phoenix Nights (previously featured on DVD), a behind-the-scenes documentary of the Mum Wants a Bungalow tour and also the whole Peter Kay Live in Manchester show.

In 2000, Peter Kay guest appeared in one episode of the popular police drama Heartbeat playing a thief. Peter Kay also sang at the end of the episode. Peter Kay appeared on stage at the Queen + Paul Rodgers concert at Manchester's MEN Arena (with Patrick McGuinness) and in Hyde Park in 2005 both as himself and in the persona of Brian Potter. Peter Kay also appeared at the BBC's televised charity event Comic Relief in 2003 and 2005, sharing the stage with Alan Partridge (actor Steve Coogan) in 2003.

The 30-year-old performer, real name Alecia Beth Moore, will appear at the theme park on Sunday, June 27. The Alton Towers gig is part of the American artist's Funhouse tour, which takes in venues across the UK. The Pink concert will be the first to be hosted at the resort since the late 1990s, when it played host to artists such as James, Wet Wet Wet, M People and Tina Turner. There are just under 30,000 tickets available for the concert, which will take place on the front lawn. Tickets are priced at £45 and can be booked as a combined theme park pass for £63.

Police say a tour bus being used by the pop singer Pink caught fire on its way from Munich to Berlin, but there were no injuries. Bavarian police say a particle filter in the exhaust system caught fire at about 5 a.m. Monday due to a technical defect. They say the driver reacted quickly and got the bus to the side of the highway and put the fire out with an extinguisher before authorities arrived at the scene.

Dixie Chicks Tickets – Not Ready to Make Nice

Another year, yet another scandal for the Dixie Chicks. This time, the country trio is getting attention for their support of three teens convicted of killing three eight year old boys in West Memphis in 1993. The rally, which occurred last year, had front woman Natalie Maines speaking for the men buried behind cages in an Arkansas prison and instead connected the young children's death to one of the boys' stepfathers. Now, that stepfather, Terry Hobbs, is reacting to the highly publicized allegations the Dixie females made with a publicity stunt of his own - a defamation lawsuit.

Hobbs was the stepfather of Steve Branch, one of three eight year olds who were murdered in West Memphis Tennessee in 1993, along with Christopher Byers and Michael Moore. In his lawsuit Hobbs cites loss of income and injury to reputation, along with emotional, physical and mental injuries as a result of the accusations that were announced by Maines and the rest of the Dixie Chicks. "While all Americans have the right of free speech, that right does not extend to falsely accusing someone of a triple homicide," Hobbs' attorney said in a December 4th statement. "Terry Hobbs had nothing to do with these murders. His one and only association with this tragedy was that of a devastated father." Just a day after the three boys disappeared in May 1993 their bodies were found - and soon thereafter police arrested Jason Baldwin, Damien Echols and Jessie Misskelley, those known as the "West Memphis Three," when Misskelley confessed that Echols and Baldwin had sexually assaulted two of the boys while he went after the third. Though the boys, all under age except for Echols, then 19, were convicted, recent evidence proved that documents were withheld from the proceedings.

And Maines stepped in from there. The singer published a letter in November 2007 that claimed DNA testing proved Hobbs was linked to the young boy's murders. The Dixie chick continued to explore areas of interest that would lead to speculation about whether Hobbs was actually involved in the crime, and led a rally in Little Rock supporting a retrial for the three teenagers convicted of the brutal crimes.

This isn't the first time, or doubtfully the last, that the women of Dixie Chicks have made national news due to their outlandish ideals. After their liberal singles began to rule the crossover charts, Maines began commenting about President George W. Bush that left the group in the midst of their own controversial atmosphere. The girls remained confident and released the single "Not Ready to Make Nice," a self explanatory single that sings "forgive, sounds good/forget, I'm not sure I could/they say time heals everything/but I'm still waiting/I'm through with doubt/there's nothing left for me to figure out/I've paid a price/and I'll keep paying/I'm not ready to make nice/I'm not ready to back down/I'm still mad as Hell and/I don't have time to go round and round and round/it's too late to make it right/I probably wouldn't if I could/'cause I'm mad as hell/can't bring myself to do what it is you think I should." Heaven 17 are a British synthpop band originating from Sheffield in the early 1980s. The trio comprises Martyn Ware (keyboards), Ian Craig Marsh (keyboards) (both previously with The Human League) and Glenn Gregory (vocals).Taking their name from a fictional pop group mentioned in Anthony Burgess's novel, A Clockwork Orange, (where 'The Heaven Seventeen' are at number 4 in the charts with "Inside"), Heaven 17 formed when Ian Craig Marsh and Martyn Ware split from their earlier group, The Human League, and formed the production company British Electric Foundation (BEF). BEF's first recording was a cassette-only album called Music for Stowaways and an LP called Music for Listening To.

Like The Human League, Heaven 17 heavily used synthesizers and drum machines (the Linn LM-1 programmed by Ware). Session musicians were used for bass and guitar (John Wilson) and grand piano (Nick Plytas). Whereas the Heaven 17's former colleagues The Human League had gone on to major chart success in 1981, Heaven 17 struggled to make an impact. Heaven 17 debut single "(We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang" attracted some attention and, due to its overtly left-wing political lyrics, was banned by BBC Radio 1 DJ Mike Read (who was a staunch Conservative), and neither this nor any other of the four singles taken from the Heaven 17's debut album Penthouse and Pavement managed to reach the UK Top 40. The album itself proved to be a minor success and peaked at Number 14 on the UK album chart, and was later certified Gold by the BPI in 1982.

Around this time, Ware and Marsh produced two further LPs as BEF, the first being Music of Quality & Distinction (Vol 1) featuring Glenn Gregory, Tina Turner, Paula Yates, Billy Mackenzie, Hank Marvin, Paul Jones, Bernadette Nolan and Gary Glitter. The tracks were cover versions of songs that Ware, Marsh and Gregory had grown up listening to. The album peaked at Number 25. In October 1982, Heaven 17 released their new single "Let Me Go", but this too charted just outside the UK Top 40.

In 1983, the Heaven 17's fortunes changed. Their next single, "Temptation" (on which they were augmented by vocalist Carol Kenyon), reached Number 2 on the UK Singles Chart in Spring 1983 and became their biggest hit. The song was taken from their second album, The Luxury Gap, which featured further chart hits "Come Live With Me" (UK Number 5) and "Crushed By The Wheels of Industry" (UK Number 17). The album itself charted at Number 4 in the UK Albums Chart, their highest ever position, and was certified Platinum by the BPI in 1984.

Heaven 17 also worked on the Band Aid single at the end of 1984, with Gregory supplying vocals alongside Midge Ure and Sting, after a personal request from Ure that he attend. However, Heaven 17 did not perform at Live Aid the following year. Heaven 17's first "live" performance was in 1986 on the UK television programme The Tube.

After the remix album Endless peaked at Number 70 in July 1986, Heaven 17's fourth studio album Pleasure One was released in November 1986 and featured the single "Trouble" (UK Number 51, GER Number 17). This was also the first Heaven 17 album to not mention production credits for BEF and the abbreviation would not appear again until Bigger Than America in 1996.

2005 saw the release of a new album, Before After, which had a much more contemporary dance sound compared to previous albums. In November 2005, Heaven 17 were filmed for a live DVD playing to a packed house at The Scala in London.

In 2006, Marsh stopped making live appearances with Heaven 17. In an early 2009 interview, Ware stated that Marsh had left Heaven 17 and was now studying at university. Since the mid 1990s, Billie Godfrey has worked with the Heaven 17 as a backing vocalist and appears with them at concerts. She appeared with them as part of the Heaven 17 on 21 November 2008 for their highest profile TV appearance of recent years on Now That's What I Call 1983 on ITV1.

In December 2008, Heaven 17 toured the UK as part of the Sheffield band based Steel City Tour alongside The Human League and ABC. Coinciding with this was the release of Heaven 17 new album, Naked as Advertised - Versions 08, issued through the Just Music record label.

On 16 February 2010, Heaven 17 joined La Roux to record a joint live session for the BBC which was shown on the BBC Red Button interactive channel in January 2010. In the run up to their 30th anniversary, Heaven 17 announced several live dates in which they would perform their 1981 debut album Penthouse and Pavement live in its entirety for the first time.

If Tony Bennett is the reigning king of the Great American Songbook, then Michael Buble is its crown prince.

Thats has a lot to rest on the shoulders of a 32-year-old vocalist, one who only has three full-length studio albums under his belt, but Buble certainly lived up to that designation during his concert on Saturday night (May 3) at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.

He opened his 100-minute set by jazzing up fellow Canadian Leonard Cohen Your Man an appropriate choice since, in 2008, Michael Buble is definitely the people choice. Jazz aficionados might say that other singers have better chops _ and they be right _ but to truly follow in the footsteps of Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, a performer must also achieve mass popularity. Thats something that Buble has done in spades.

Hes nothing less than a phenomenon _ a young man who sings like Frankie, sells concert tickets like Springsteen and moves records like Mariah. Remember the sensation that Harry Connick, Jr. caused with the Harry Met Sally soundtrack back in 1989? Good. Now, multiple it tenfold and you get Buble current spot in the market place.

His latest CD, Call Me Irresponsible, hit No. 1 on the Billboard Album Chart shortly after being released last May. Equally impressive is the fact that Buble is now a legitimate arena act, able to draw some 10,000 fans to HP.

Fortunately, those eye-popping numbers are matched, even surpassed, by Buble prowess on the live stage. Hes taken his nightclub shtick and found a way to bring it into arenas, with amazingly little lost in translation. The production we saw in San Jose was decidedly straightforward _ just a vocalist leading a sensational 13-piece band, complete with a horn section, through tunes that, for the most part, have been around for decades _ yet Buble was still able to make a connection with those sitting an ice rink away in the so-called cheap seats.

Very few performers go to greater lengths to strike that connection than Buble. Its almost like he puts developing that bond above even singing the actual songs. In one instance, immediately following a lovely burn through Fever the vocalist spotted one of the younger audience members and decided to introduce himself from the stage. When that didnt prove intimate enough, Buble went into the crowd to shake the hand of the 7-year old kid.

It means a lot to me that you are here, he said earnestly.

Buble takes his role as an ambassador of the Great American Songbook very seriously. He knows that its partially up to him to introduce these classic tunes to the next generation. The vocalist does so by including bits of all-ages humor in the concert and tossing in some hip-hop and rock edges into the mix to broaden the materials appeal _ the latter, most assuredly, would make the so-called Jazz Police cringe.

Just because he works hard to be popular, however, doesnt mean he should be put in the same category as Rod Stewart and Barry Manilow, two pop stars who mined the oldies catalog as late-career moves. Buble is the real deal and his versions of World on a String and That Life in San Jose carried the same type of confident swagger that the singers idol, Sinatra, wouldve given the tunes.

Although Buble can be called a Sinatra or Bennett wannabe _ in that he wants to be like them _ he is far from being a Vegas-style impersonator. Hes got his own deal going on, which he made perfectly clear when he chose to dedicate a song to the men in the house. It turned out to a rockin cover of Elvis Presleys first single, Thats Alright, Mama, but that one, Buble decided, didnt quite fit the occasion. He said he needed something more macho.

So, of course, he turned to the Macho Men and sang a jazzed-up take on the Village Peoples Y.M.C.A. that had the crowd members _ the same ones that had just gleefully sang along to Feeling Good and other standards _ waving their arms in the air and acting like they were at a disco.

Bubles approach may not always be orthodox, but it undeniably effective.

Billboard.com reports that on May 10, tour promoter Live Nation announced that Lady Gaga will return to the road in 2011 with a string of arena dates beginning in February 2011. So far, Lady Gaga has 10 arena dates lined up for next year, starting with a Feb. 19 gig in Atlantic City, N.J. and running through April 18. Additional dates for the trek, which will also feature 2010 tour opener Semi Precious Weapons, are expected to be announced in the future.

Lady Gaga's 2009-10 North American tour was also called the Monster Ball, but back in February Gaga told KIIS-FM's Ryan Seacrest that her upcoming tour will feature beefed up production to accommodate larger venues. "It's still called Monster Ball, but it's more of a musical and less of a concert. It has a New York theme, it's a story, and the story is that me and my friends are in New York and we're going to the Monster Ball, and we get lost," Gaga told Seacrest. Her theatrical tour will make stops in New York, N.Y.; Toronto, ON; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Dallas, Texas; Phoenix, Ariz.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Portland, Ore. and more. Sting, as many fans know, started his career as the frontman for the popular rock band the Police. After the group disbanded in 1984, Sting embarked on a highly successful solo career, initially focusing on sounds of jazz integrated into a rock genre.
