Joplin was insanely good in both composing and playing. The original speed for the music is just incredibly fast, and the song is hard to play even at very low speed.

One of the best films ever made.

Ironically The Entertainer and it’s style of music had died out in popularity before the time the film was set!

Not really an answer, considering he didn’t ask a question, more a correction of the answer he gave.

Technically it is the entertainer, but it was SLIGHTLY tweaked for the Sting. I think?

The Sting won Best Picture in 1973, the year I was born, and it is my favorite movie. I love Redford, Newman and The Entertainer! A local department store used to have a lady playing the piano and I would always request The Entertainer and she would always play it. Love it.

Scott Joplin one said shortly before he died that it would be 50 yrs before his music was appreciated. took 55 years with the release of this movie for america to rediscover one of its lost sons and give him the honor he deserved and kick off the ragtime Renaissance
